Level 1 - Precious Metal Clay for Beginners (2 days - Introduction to PMC workshop or equivalent needed)
This level adds to the basics already learned in the Introductory Workshop - concentrating on handling the clay, using slip and incorporating silver wire into PMC clay.
Workshop 1. Incorporating silver wire and attaching non-heat resistant stone e.g Carnelian. You will make two sets of earrings, plus an organic leaf pendant for use in following workshop (Decorative Links).
Workshop 2. This final workshop in Level 1 includes using clay and silver wire to create decorative links. Learning to forming jump rings, and using various relevant mandrels.
The projects within this level also include torch firing and kiln firing. All the techniques in this level will give a good foundation needed for the other levels.
Techniques include:
*Texturing
*Rehydrating PMC
*Making slip
*Advantages and uses of different kinds of PMC
*Construction and assembly
*Making holes
*Building up layers
*Using slip to create a leaf pendant
*Attaching findings
*Sanding, burnishing, polishing
Attainment : Level 1 - Certificate of Achievement
Each workshop can be booked separately (works out at only £99 per workshop), or together for 10% discount on total price.
